How to check a case on portal.just.ro
Searching by number, party, and court; what “stage” and “solution” mean; and why the date on the portal is not always the latest news.
Search by case number
The number looks like 1234/299/2025: registration number / court code / year. On portal.just.ro open Cases, type the exact number and, if you know it, pick the court — without a court, the same number can appear at several courts, since each numbers its own files. If the case was transferred or went up on appeal, you will also find it under an older number at the previous court.
Search by party name
With no number, search by party — a person or a company. Common names return dozens of results, so narrow by court or by date range. The portal shows parties as the registry typed them: missing diacritics, reversed given names, or abbreviated company names are normal, and a search that finds nothing does not mean the case does not exist.
Reading the case file
The object says what the case is about; the procedural stage shows where it is (first instance, appeal, second appeal); hearings list the dates with time and panel, and each hearing carries a short solution and, later, the reasoning. The last-updated date belongs to the file, not the case: the portal pulls from ECRIS periodically, so a change made at the registry today can surface tomorrow.
Finding out about changes without checking daily
The portal does not notify you — you have to go and look. With a handful of cases you can do it by hand. With dozens it is a routine you drop in exactly the busy week you needed it.
