What a spreadsheet cannot do
An Excel file holds the case numbers and hearing dates you typed into it. It does not check portal.just.ro every day, does not tell you when the time or the panel changes, does not know a hearing was postponed, does not tie worked time to an invoice, and says nothing when a colleague forgets to add a new matter. Its cost is not the zero subscription — it is the hearing you learn about late.
What a Romanian practice actually needs
Automatic portal.just.ro and ICCJ sync by case number. A hearings calendar that updates itself and feeds Google or Outlook. Clients and matters with parties and subject. Party monitoring, to catch new cases your client appears in. Timesheet tied to the matter and the mandate. Billing with e-Factura in SPV — directly or through Oblio or SmartBill. A correspondence register and travel orders, because those are genuinely required. And an export, so the data stays yours.
What moving off Excel looks like
The first step is not importing the file — it is searching the portal by your name or the firm's: the matters where you appear as party or counsel come back as a list, you tick them, and they land in the workspace with hearings, parties, and court already filled in. From there, sync keeps them current on its own. Whatever else lives in the spreadsheet — clients, notes, rates — imports from CSV. In practice, a firm with a few dozen matters is working the same day.
